On Wednesday night, #LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers try to grab their first win of the 2017 NBA Finals. The Cavs will host Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors at Quicken Loans Arena for #Game 3, with the defending champions in a 0-2 hole. However, most of the players involved, and fans who watched last year’s playoffs, realized a Warriors lead isn’t that insurmountable. Will the Cavs have enough to take down this new super team featuring Kevin Durant in tonight’s game, or will Golden State keep their unblemished postseason record alive?

Game 3 preview

In last year’s NBA Finals, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavs found themselves in a much similar situation, having dropped the first two games of the series to Golden State.

Both of those games were routs last year and this year, but will deja vu come into play? Last year’s series saw the “unstoppable” Warriors go up 3-1, only for the Cavs to pull off an incredible comeback and win the title in seven games. With an “X factor” of Kevin Durant inserted into the lineup, it seems the Warriors found the extra ingredient to help their roster overcome the defending champions this post-season.

The Cavs have shown they are the “Big Three” and not much else. James is averaging a triple-double. He put up 28 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists in Game 1, then followed with a 29 points, 14 assists, and 11 rebounds performance. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love have also done their parts as All-Stars, but Tristan Thompson and J.R. Smith have been missing in action so far.

While LeBron has continued to show he is one of the best ever to play the game, there is now talk that he is passing his torch to the next league superstar: Kevin Durant.

KD had 38 points in Game 1 along with nine boards and eight assists. In Game 2 he put up just 33 points but had 13 rebounds, six assists, five blocks, and three steals for a complete stat line. It’s clearly become KD’s mission to show that he knew exactly why leaving OKC to play for the top contender would get him closer to a first NBA title.

As of this report, the latest odds still have the visiting Warriors as three-point favorites, with a -145 price on the money line. The Cleveland Cavaliers are home underdogs, priced at +125, while the over/under points total sits around 227 points for the complete game. If the Cavs were going to win a game, one would have to think being on their home court in the next two will help with that goal.
